Prices Realized from Day 2 of Cast Iron Collector’s Auction on August 23, 2025

I collected all prices realized from both days of a cast iron collector’s auction on August 22 and 23, 2025 at Dinky’s Auction Center in Montgomery, Indiana. This post has the results from day two of the auction. The results for day one of the auction are here. There were bidders present on-site, and it ran simultaneously online at Auction Zip.

I followed the auction online on day one and created a video that details my preparation, things I took into consideration, and my (unsuccessful) bid on an Iron Mountain (by Griswold) cast iron skillet lid. I also made running commentary with my thought process as I watched the auction. If you are new to cast iron auctions, you might find the video helpful. You can find it here. You may also find it helpful to review my two detailed posts about vintage cast iron collector’s auctions, here and here.

Video with Prices Realized

The video below shows the prices sorted from the highest price realized ($6,750 for a Griswold no. 13 fully-marked skillet lid) to the lowest ($5 for a Wagner-made International Molders and Allied Workers Union advertising ashtray).

As you review the results, bear in mind that the prices shown do not include a 20% buyer’s premium if the bidder is online as opposed to bidding in person (no premium in this auction if bidder is present at the auction). They also do not include a $15 handling fee plus actual shipping cost for online bidders who needed to have their win(s) shipped.

As a point of reference, the $6,750 Griswold no. 13 lid would cost the successful online bidder at least $8,100 when the 20% buyer’s premium of $1,350 is added to the realized bid price. If the piece needed to be shipped, an additional $15 handling fee plus the actual cost of shipping and insurance would be added.
