Top Prices at Dinky’s December 2-3, 2022 Vintage Cast Iron Cookware Auction

I enjoyed following Dinky’s December 2-3, 2022 auction of vintage and antique cast iron cookware. The auction took place in Montgomery Indiana. Bidding was live in-person, and live online. I followed day two of the auction online.

I know people are always hungry to check out selling prices, so here’s a sampling of some of the prices realized. Bear in mind that these prices do not include the 20% buyer’s premium or any shipping/handling charges. These extra charges both, of course, add a chunk of money to the price seen here.

$11,500 Paid for Griswold no. 1 Cast Iron Skillet

The top price realized was $11,500 for a Griswold slant logo “ERIE” no. 1 skillet, pattern no. 411.

Interestingly, I saw that this pan (likely not this same pan, but one with identical markings) sold for $7,500 at an auction in 2019. I don’t know that this pan is the precise pan sold in 2019 (my guess is that it is not, as at this price I am sure the pan was purchased by a collector), but a $4,000 appreciation in 3 years isn’t bad for the seller!

I did buy a few pieces at this auction; I wrote a separate post about my purchases to demonstrate the difference between the “realized price” and the actual price paid. It will be posted soon.

You’ve got a good memory, Doug! When was that second one sold? I remember seeing it but can’t remember the dates – that’s why it says XXX in the post right now. 🙂

the #1 wasn’t the same one that was sold at the other auction. Dinkys had 2 of them. the second one was in better condition than the first one, that is the reason for the difference in selling price.
