Recap of the trip Linda and I took to North Platte Nebraska in September to meet up with other cast iron enthusiasts from the Griswold & Cast Iron Cookware Association. It was great to see our cast iron friends, talk iron, and snag some great pieces!

Photo from inside the Griswold Mfg. Co. in Erie, PA. Dated September 19, 1902. Photo is signed "George T. Griswold March 21, 1998."

Some Griswold pieces were reproduced; don't be fooled!

Always watch for the crispness/clarity of the font and the quality of the casting. If the casting is sloppy or the font uneven or poorly placed, it's not Griswold. ... See MoreSee Less

Linda Schaefer Lamb and I had a fun time at the Griswold & Cast Iron Cookware Associations (GCICA) Heartland chapter meet in North Platte, Nebraska. Doug Wenz and Kathy Brouillette Wenz were the hosts.

Ive written a bit about GCICA on the blog. If you are a vintage cast iron enthusiast, its definitely a group worth joining. Not only do you have the chance to see, share, and snag some great old iron, you learn so much from the other members!

Very mid-century modern Griswold "Symbol" cast aluminum cookware with enameled covers, from the mid-1960s. Of course, this cookware was made after Griswold was sold. The pans carry the Griswold "cross" trademark on the bottom, but are not marked "Erie PA."
