Baked Brie with Jalapeno Jelly made in a Cast Iron Skillet

Here’s an easy appetizer for your next camping adventure – baked brie with jalapeno jelly. Bring along a number 5 or 6 vintage cast iron skillet, a smaller round of brie and a small jar of jalapeno jelly and crackers or a baguette and you’ve got everything you need!

When I go camping with my foodie friends, we split up food duties, with everyone assigning themselves a meal or an appetizer. I like to do the appetizers.

Melty brie with berry jalapeno jelly, served with crackers or a baguette is always a hit and it’s easy clean-up; serve it right out of the skillet!

Here’s how to make it:

Take a smaller round of brie, place it in your number 5 or 6 cast iron skillet, and cover it with a jar of berry and jalapeno jelly. You can leave the rind on or take it off – it’s totally up to you. I usually leave it on.

Let the brie melt over indirect heat. You can see in the photo how the skillet is placed to the side of the campfire.

Once the brie is nice and melty, serve it on crackers or brie. Voila! Simple and tasty appetizer for your next camping adventure.
