Lodge Cast Iron Special Commemorative and Advertising Skillet Auction August 10, 2024: Results

Are you ready to see the realized prices from the Lodge Manufacturing Company’s first-ever cast iron auction?

Lodge held the auction at its South Pittsburg, Tennessee home base on August 10, 2024. The event was held to auction off some of Lodge’s limited production and prototype pieces made over the years.

Some collectors focus their collection on Lodge Commemorative and Advertising pieces; the private Facebook group 1 Lodge Commemorative and Advertising Cast Iron is one such group of collectors. 2

Below is a list (with photos) of what was sold at the auction, along with the successful bid amounts. There was no buyer’s premium (a rarity!), the auction was in-person only, and tax was added where necessary. The catalog, photos and description are from the auction itself; I compiled the selling information and placed it on the catalog in blue text.

The high price was $4,100, paid for the Grateful Dead “Steal Your Face” skillet (page 34). Second was the “Alabama” skillet (page 12), which sold for $900.

The usual caveats apply to the results you see here – the prices were for that specific piece, with those particular markings in that specific (new) condition. Some pieces were prototypes, some were very limited production, some drew very high bids, and some did not. The catalog titles and photos are from the Lodge event; the typing in blue text is my commentary.

  1. “Private” means you must request to join the group and access its contents.
  2. I have visited and written blog posts about Lodge collectors Grady Britt, Harold Henry, and John Clough; Larry and Marg O’Neil (and many others) also have a significant collection of Lodge commemoratives. You can see pieces from some of them in my presentation from the Lodge Cornbread Festival in 2019 about Lodge collectors and collections.
